This initiative, announced by Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill during the annual State of the Department address, represents a drive for high-tech policing. Among these vehicles, a specially armored Tesla Cybertruck will assist the SWAT squad by improving safety and operating efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Motor Trend’s Eric Tingwall, “By completely removing the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front tires, Tesla fundamentally reimagined the rack-and-pinion steering the auto industry has spent nearly 100 years refining.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tesla Cybertruck Engineer Weighs In<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tesla\u2019s Lead Cybertruck Engineer, Wes Morrill, acknowledged the praise and emphasized the advantages of steer-by-wire technology. He noted that this system allows for variable-ratio steering, which enhances low-speed maneuverability. \u201cSteer by wire and modern power assist steering are both doing the majority of the work for the driver,\u201d Morrill stated. \u201cThe main difference is that steer by wire can have a variable steering ratio which is better for low speeds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LVMPD is not the first law enforcement department to test the Cybertruck. The Irvine Police Department also showcased a Cybertruck police vehicle. However, LVMPD will have the greatest fleet to date.
