Tesla Giga Berlin<\/a><\/strong> is making a big comeback. Following a 76% reduction in sales in February and ongoing controversies involving CEO Elon Musk, many expected that manufacturing would see substantial slowdowns. However, Tesla has demonstrated resilience. Factory manager Andr\u00e9 Thierig indicated that Giga Berlin is actively trying to recover full production capacity, particularly after the transfer to the new Model Y. Despite concerns over staffing and recent union petitions, Tesla remains focused on ramping production and meeting demand for its latest electric crossover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tesla Giga Berlin Production resumed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Factory manager Andr\u00e9 Thierig acknowledged that Giga Berlin is attempting to restore full production capacity. The facility slowed down as it transitioned to the new Model Y. However, attempts are currently underway to recover to historical output levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Giga Berlin manufactured approximately 1,000 automobiles per day. The facility currently has only 3,200 automobiles in its inventory, equivalent to about three days’ worth of production from last year. This suggests that demand for the updated Model Y remains high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No Slowdowns in Operations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tesla’s sales in Germany have been falling in recent months. Despite this, Thierig said there are no plans for layoffs or production halts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There are no plans for production shutdowns, staff reductions, or downsizing. We’ve converted production from our prior model to the new Model Y, which takes time. We don’t make autos in mass. Thierig noted that the company manufactures automobiles not only for the German market but also for 37 other markets inside and outside of the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keeping Politics Out of the Tesla Giga Berlin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tesla and Elon Musk<\/a><\/strong> remain controversial figures in Germany. However, Thierig emphasized that Giga Berlin is solely focused on vehicle production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe build cars and have never made any political statements,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite this stance, Tesla Giga Berlin has received a petition from IG Metall, a large German labor group. The petition, signed by over 3,000 workers, calls for longer breaks and more personnel. The union intends to bring the petition during a workers’ council meeting on March 20, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Worker Satisfaction and New Hires<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tesla employs over 11,000 workers at its facility, making it one of the top employers in the Brandenburg region. With the ongoing transition to the new Model Y and increased production targets, Tesla has been working to maintain job stability and employee satisfaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tesla recently conducted an internal survey with responses from 7,500 employees at the factory. The findings revealed that 80% of employees were satisfied with their occupations, whereas 5% indicated discontent. The remaining staff maintained a neutral approach. This study reflects the plant’s overall job stability, despite ongoing discussions concerning working conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tesla reportedly offered permanent contracts to 300 temporary workers as part of a workforce-strengthening initiative. This decision is consistent with the company’s goal of ramping up manufacturing for the 2025 Model Y. However, labor officials from IG Metall worry that 300 new hires may not be enough to meet the vehicle’s expanding demand. The union has advocated for extra staffing to reduce workloads and increase efficiency. At the same time, a petition signed by over 3,000 Tesla employees is calling for longer breaks and more staff at the factory. The petition is expected to be presented during an upcoming works council meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Impact on Tesla\u2019s Market Performance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tesla is actively modernizing its factories in China, Germany, and the United States to produce the revised Model Y, also known as “Juniper.”<\/a><\/strong> This transition has prompted several Wall Street analysts to decrease their Q1 2025 delivery expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wells Fargo analyst Colin Langan reduced Tesla\u2019s price target to $130, forecasting first-quarter deliveries of 360,000 units. Goldman Sachs also adjusted its estimates, predicting 375,000 deliveries in Q1 2025. For context, Tesla delivered 386,810 vehicles in Q1 2024 and 422,875 units in Q1 2023. These estimates reflect a temporary dip as Tesla transitions to new models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
