Tesla has officially discontinued sales of the Model Y Launch Series in Europe. It has now expanded its normal lineup with three more versions. The current options are Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (LR RWD), and Long Range All-Wheel Drive. These models have a new design and price modifications.
The Model Y Launch Series made its European debut just a few weeks ago, starting at €60,990. It included several high-end accessories and special trim pieces. The package also featured Full Self-Driving (FSD) and Acceleration Boost, making it an excellent value for customers seeking a fully equipped Model Y.
New Model Y Variants and Pricing
Tesla has updated the Model Y lineup in Germany with the following pricing:
- RWD – €44,990 (same price as the previous version)
- Long Range RWD – €49,990 (a €1,000 increase)
- Long Range AWD – €52,990 (a €2,000 decrease)
This pricing adjustment makes the Long Range AWD more affordable, increasing its appeal. Unlike the Launch Series, which had restricted paint options, the normal Model Y models are available in a complete spectrum of Giga Berlin colors. Available choices include
- Pearl White
- Solid Black
- Stealth Grey
- Quicksilver
- Ultra Red
However, Midnight Cherry Red is not currently listed. It remains uncertain if Tesla will reintroduce this color.
Expected Delivery Timeline
According to Tesla’s online configurator, the first deliveries of the upgraded Model Y will occur in May or June. This offers European buyers an alternative to the more expensive Launch Series, which includes more features at no extra charge.
Refreshed Model Y Features
The upgraded Model Y, codenamed “Juniper,” includes several changes intended to improve performance, comfort, and efficiency. Some of the significant enhancements are:
- Tesla enhanced the vehicle’s aerodynamics and powertrain to reduce energy consumption, resulting in a longer range and higher overall efficiency.
- Updated materials, a new ambient lighting system, and better sound insulation make the cabin quieter and more premium.
- Tesla has fine-tuned the suspension system to deliver a smoother ride and better handling, enhancing comfort and driving dynamics.
- The revamped Model Y has small style changes, such as reshaped headlamps, new wheel designs, and minor aerodynamic enhancements, giving it a more modern appearance.
Availability and Pricing in Other Regions
In the UK, pricing is as follows:
- RWD – £44,990 (€54,370)
- Long Range AWD – £51,990 (€62,820)
The Launch Series is still listed on Tesla’s UK website, indicating that right-hand-drive units remain available.
In the United States, the Launch Series is still for sale at $59,990 before tax credits. The standard Model Y pricing in the U.S. includes:
- Long Range RWD – $44,990
- Long Range AWD – $47,990
- Performance AWD – $51,490
Tesla continues to offer the $59,990 Launch Series in select markets, with deliveries expected soon. According to Tesla’s website, this limited-edition model includes nearly $17,000 in extras, such as:
- Full Self-Driving software ($8,000)
- Acceleration Boost ($2,000)
- Tow hitch ($1,000)
- Free paint, wheels, and interior customization
Tesla’s revised Model Y portfolio gives European buyers more inexpensive options. The price reduction on the Long Range AWD variant is particularly remarkable. While these upgrades have yet to be implemented in the United States, Tesla may soon roll out identical updates there. For the time being, European buyers can take advantage of the new configurations and pricing modifications.
