New orders for the Model S and Model X, including the Long Range and Plaid variants, are now scheduled for delivery between July and August 2025. This rapid adjustment has sparked speculation regarding forthcoming vehicle revisions. Tesla has done this before releasing new models.

Model S/X in 2020: Tesla extended delivery deadlines shortly before unveiling the final major upgrade.
Tesla’s Fremont facility manufactures the Model S and X exclusively. Unlike the Model 3 and Y, which have many manufacturing facilities, these flagship models rely on a single location. Updating production lines takes time, and shipping difficulties cause further delays, particularly in European markets.
The Model S and X’s previous big upgrade took more than two years to arrive in Europe. If Tesla is truly developing an upgrade, customers anticipate a speedier and more efficient distribution this time. With delivery dates now extended until mid-2025, an official announcement may not be far off.
