Tesla Model Y is making a strong comeback in Norway and Sweden after a slow start to 2025. Sales had declined in the first two months of the year, but recent registration data shows a rebound driven by the new Tesla Model Y. In Norway, it has reclaimed the top spot, while in Sweden, it ranks third among the most registered vehicles. This surge suggests that Tesla is regaining momentum in key European markets.
Tesla Model Y Regains No. 1 Spot in Norway
Tesla registrations are on the rise in Norway, a country that is a stronghold for electric automobiles. The Model Y is currently the best-selling car in March, per real-time data from Norwegian Electric Vehicle Statistics.
As of this month, 485 Model Y units have been registered. In February, however, only 283 were registered. With 267 units, up from 129 in February, the Model 3 is in second place and is doing well as well. This rise suggests that Tesla is once again in demand in a market where competition has been getting fiercer.
Model Y Climbs to Third in Sweden
In Sweden, Tesla’s Model Y is also gaining popularity. Car.info and CarUp data show that the Model Y is the third most registered vehicle as of March 12.
So far, 318 Model Y units have been registered, surpassing the January total of 299. February had 479 registrations, putting March on track to eclipse that total. However, the Model 3 is lagging, with only 60 registrations thus far. One reason could be because the Model 3 is imported whereas the Model Y is manufactured at the Gigafactory Berlin.
New Model Y Sparks Optimism
The updated Tesla Model Y is boosting Tesla’s sales in Norway and Sweden. After a difficult start to 2025, with sales dropping more than 40% in key European areas, March registrations suggest a possible comeback. The high demand for the new Model Y indicates that Tesla’s newest design enhancements and competitive pricing are appealing to purchasers.
Norway, which is widely regarded as a standard for EV adoption, has seen the Model Y return to the top of the registration lists. Sweden is likewise experiencing a rise, with the Model Y now ranking among the top three registered vehicles. This newfound interest is a good indication for Tesla, especially given the growing competition from other EV makers.
While the full data for March are not yet available, Tesla’s impressive early performance suggests that the first quarter of 2025 could end on a positive note. Given Norway’s position as a leader in EV adoption, Tesla’s rebound is particularly noteworthy.
