Tesla brings a refreshed Model 3 lineup to Europe, and the upgrades are more than just skin-deep. With longer driving ranges, faster acceleration, and thoughtful design updates, this version of the Model 3 looks ready to capture even more attention. One of the biggest highlights is the introduction of LG Energy’s latest 5M battery pack. This change not only delivers greater efficiency but also unlocks extra performance for the higher trims. The update also includes small yet meaningful design adjustments, like the return of the turn signal stalk and a new front bumper camera. For European customers, this means their Tesla experience is about to get even more exciting.
Longer Range with LG 5M Battery
The most important change sits under the floor of the new Model 3. Tesla has introduced the LG Energy 5M battery pack with a massive 82 kWh capacity. This technology was first seen in China and is now being exported to Europe through Giga Shanghai.
Thanks to the upgraded cells, the Model 3 now has extended driving distances. Based on the WLTP standard, here are the updated ranges:
- Long Range RWD: 750 km (466 miles)
- Long Range AWD: 660 km (410 miles)
- Performance: 571 km (355 miles)
For comparison, the WLTP cycle is more generous than the U.S. EPA standard; therefore, real-world ranges may be approximately 15–20% lower. Still, the numbers show a clear improvement.
Performance Boost for the Model 3 Performance
It’s not just about going farther—it’s also about going faster. The Model 3 Performance trim now comes with 500 horsepower, which is 40 hp more than before. That translates into a 0–100 km/h time of just 3.1 seconds, shaving off two-tenths from the earlier 3.3 seconds.
This leap comes from the higher energy density of the LG 5M battery cells. It’s a great example of how advances in battery tech directly enhance speed and efficiency without major design changes.
Design Changes and Hardware Updates
Tesla has also introduced subtle design updates to keep the Model 3 fresh. Among the most noticeable are:
- A front bumper camera for improved visibility.
- The return of the turn signal stalk, a feature many owners had missed.
- A switch from the chrome “T” logo on the frunk to a sleek black version, though the logo itself hasn’t been removed like in Asian markets.
These changes may seem small, but they add up to create a better driving and ownership experience.
Turn Signal Stalk Retrofit for Owners
For those who bought a Model 3 during the stalk-free period, Tesla has introduced an optional retrofit. The company is offering a left-turn signal stalk retrofit for €660 (C$1,080/US$775). The package includes shipping to a Tesla Service Center and installation.
According to Tesla, “This package is compatible with Model 3 vehicles produced in 2023, 2024 and 2025 without a turn signal stalk.”
This mirrors Tesla’s approach in China, where the company also brought back the stalk for new cars while allowing existing owners to add it back.
Why Battery Technology Matters in EVs
One of the biggest strengths of electric vehicles is how quickly they benefit from battery advancements. One of the most notable benefits of electric vehicles is how quickly they benefit from battery developments. When a supplier creates a better cell, manufacturers such as Tesla can include it in their current models. Often, the cells are the same size and structure, requiring only minor adjustments.
That’s exactly what happened with the Model 3. In China, the updated car has already achieved up to 830 km (515 miles) under the CLTC standard. Now, European buyers are seeing similar improvements under WLTP testing.
For young drivers and EV enthusiasts, this upgrade is a reminder that Tesla continues to push boundaries in range, design, and performance. It also shows how battery innovation can quickly transform everyday cars into something more powerful and efficient.
