Tesla has planned on March 1st 2023 an official presentation during the Investor Day to talk about the next projects and deadlines of the company. This is going to be one of the most important events of the year, considering all the rumors that have been circulating lately.
We take stock of the rumors
Investors and fans are expecting a lot of answers from Elon Musk. Indeed the program of the evening (beginning 22:00 Paris time) seems quite busy, we will have according to the rumors right to :
- A facelift of the Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla Model Y, an aesthetic update known internally as Project Highland for the Tesla Model 3 and Juniper for the Tesla Model Y.
- A schedule and information about the manufacturing of the CyberTruck. This one should intervene during the middle of the year 2023. Many prototypes have been seen lately and Elon Musk announced to enter in beta-production phase.
- An announcement of the new on-board computer called HW4, which will take over from HW3. This one will improve the calculation speed and will allow to manage more cameras. The CyberTruck, then the Model S and Model X will be equipped with its additional cameras by mid-year and finally the Model 3 and Model Y will be equipped by the end of the year.
- Massive rollout of Tesla’s version 11 software and FSD Beta rollout. Tesla will surely announce the V11 update that will add the new features of Tesla Vision. Indeed lately Tesla had a lot of delay and expects to finish the urgent developments in March 2023. Tesla will also use 2023 to prove the reliability and safety of its SDF outside North America. Elon Musk has set 2024 as the target for Europe.
- Updated GPS chip and new mirror design for the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. A new tri-band chip will allow for increased accuracy and the removal of external sensors such as those for temperature.
- Introducing the new platform for the 3rd generation cars. Everyone would like to see a new car but it may not be the case. Indeed, Elon Musk’s goal is to reassure his investors (and also to make a little buzz as every year), so he will present the continuation of his “Master Plan” which consists of the volume of production and the economy of scale to manufacture cars less and less expensive.
- New Quicksilver grey and MidNight Cherry red paints will possibly be available in Austin for the Model Y. Indeed, Tesla has planned to present two Model Y at the entrance of the Austin factory, where the March 1st event will take place. This implies that this new factory will be able to produce these two specific colors, just like Berlin.
Above are the most likely rumors, some fans expect a new car, or announcements about the Optimus robot but all that does not seem to be on the agenda. However, as every year Elon Musk uses these events to communicate.
