19-inch Tesla Model 3 winter wheels, Highland Performance included

Which Tesla Model 3 do they fit?

At 19 inches, compatibility depends on the type of fitment, then on the wheel:

For the Highland Performance, 19 inches is the smallest possible size: its oversized calipers rule out 18-inch wheels. On staggered sets, each wheel keeps its position: mark front and rear when you take them off.

Energy use. In GreenDrive’s experience, each extra inch of wheel costs around 5% in energy use. The EPA confirms it: on the 2025 Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, 131 MPGe on 19-inch wheels against 137 on 18-inch, so 4.6% more energy (EPA 2025); on the 2020 Performance, 113 MPGe on 20-inch against 116 on 19-inch, so 2.7% more (EPA 2020). Tyre, speed and temperature shift these gaps.

Comfort. The 235/40 R19 keeps a taller sidewall than the 235/35 R20 and rides frozen ruts more smoothly. On snow, grip comes from the 3PMSF winter tyre, whatever the diameter.

Looks and limits. A bolder diameter than 18 inches, and the entry point for the Highland Performance; in return, slightly higher energy use and a wheel choice tied to your car’s year and version.

What the 19-inch winter wheel package includes

• 4 alloy wheels in 19 inches and 4 winter tyres, fitted and balanced, secured with the Model 3’s original wheel nuts;
• TPMS sensors programmed for Tesla included, 433 MHz or Bluetooth depending on the year (see the FAQ);
• tyre of your choice on the product page from several 3PMSF winter tyres; some product pages also offer an all-season tyre, whose marking you should check;
• type approval depending on the wheel (TÜV and ECE, an NAD report or JWL/VIA standards), detailed on each product page with its certificate where one exists.

Winter tyres are recommended rather than required in the UK and Ireland; for France’s Loi Montagne and the rules in Germany, Austria and Italy, see our Tesla Model 3 winter wheels page. See also our alloy wheels and tyres for the Tesla Model 3.

Snow chains for a 19-inch Model 3

Tesla recommends König-type chains, for example the CG-9 size 103 for the Model 3’s 19-inch wheels; the chains in our chains and equipment for the Tesla Model 3 category work on the same principle. The manual says to fit them to the rear tyres, never on summer tyres, at 48 km/h (30 mph) at most (Model 3 Owner’s Manual). On the staggered Performance sets, check that the chain covers the 265/35 R19 rear tyre.

19-inch Tesla Model 3 winter wheels: FAQ

Which 19-inch winter wheels fit a Model 3 Highland 2024+ Performance?

The staggered sets designed for it, with 235/40 R19 tyres at the front and 265/35 R19 at the rear.

Can a Model 3 Highland 2024+ Rear-Wheel Drive run 19-inch winter wheels?

Yes, with a set of four identical wheels whose product page lists the Model 3 Highland 2024+ Standard Rear-Wheel Drive or Premium. Some 19-inch wheels are made for 2019–2023 cars: check compatibility before you order.

Why choose 19-inch winter wheels over 18-inch?

For the looks, or out of necessity on a Highland Performance. If range comes first and your version allows it, 18 inches uses less energy.

Are tyre pressure sensors included?

Yes: every package includes four TPMS sensors programmed for Tesla, ready to use; on some product pages, you can go without them if you reuse your own. The type depends on the year: 433 MHz for a Model 3 built before 2021, Bluetooth after that, to be chosen on the product page.
