Which Tesla Model X do they fit?

The sets on this page fit the Model X Long Range and Plaid 2021+. They keep the original specs: 20x9 ET40 front, 20x10 ET35 rear, with a 5x120 bolt pattern. They are not intended for the 2016–2020 Model X: for that car, 19-inch sets are listed on our Tesla Model X winter wheels page.

20-inch winter wheels on a Model X: pros and cons

Energy use. Around 5% less energy for every inch of wheel diameter you drop, in GreenDrive’s experience. Tesla’s ratings back this up: the 2025 Model X Plaid achieves 94 MPGe on 20-inch wheels against 88 MPGe on 22-inch, so the 22-inch car uses 6.8% more energy (US EPA).

Comfort and protection. Compared with 22-inch wheels, the taller sidewall of a 20-inch tyre absorbs late-winter potholes better and keeps the rim clear of kerbs.

Snow. The winter tyres offered carry the 3PMSF marking; if you choose another tyre, check this marking on the product page. On 20-inch wheels, Tesla recommends König-type chains, such as the K-Summit K67.

Limits. No smaller diameter is offered for 2021+ Model X cars, and the staggered fitment means you cannot swap front and rear wheels.

In the UK and Ireland winter tyres are a safety choice, not a legal one; abroad, the 3PMSF tyres in these sets count as winter equipment under France’s Loi Montagne and in Germany, Austria and Italy. Snow chains for a 20-inch Model X

Tesla recommends König-type chains, for example the K-Summit K67 for the Model X on 20-inch wheels; the chains in our chains and equipment for the Tesla Model X category work on the same principle. Fit them to the rear wheels, never at the front, and stay below 48 km/h (30 mph). Set the suspension to Medium, turn off ‘Default Ride Height to Low’ and never let air out of the tyres to fit the chains (Model X Owner’s Manual).

My Model X is a 2019 car: will these wheels fit?

No, the 20-inch sets are listed for 2021+ Model X cars. For 2016–2020 cars, see the 19-inch sets on the Model X page, subject to the COC condition stated on their product page.

Which winter tyre should I choose?

Depending on the product page, the tyre is fitted as standard or you can choose from several winter tyre brands. Check the 3PMSF symbol first, then compare the EU tyre label (European Commission): the energy efficiency class affects range, the wet grip class affects braking.

Are tyre pressure sensors included?

Yes: every 20-inch Model X package includes four Bluetooth pressure sensors programmed for Tesla. Your Long Range or Plaid reads the pressure as soon as the wheels are fitted, with nothing to set up.

20-inch or 22-inch for winter?

20-inch: a taller sidewall, a better-protected wheel and lower energy use, whereas the 22-inch car uses 6.8% more energy on the 2025 Model X Plaid, according to the US EPA.
