This large-capacity under-trunk cooler for the Tesla Model Y makes use of the space under the trunk floor, which is often left unused. It’s a true 35-liter compressor-powered cooler that reaches temperatures as low as −20 °C and maintains its chill even in extreme heat—where a thermoelectric cooler would fall short. It slides into its compartment using two handles and plugs into the 12-volt outlet in the trunk.

The cooler has a capacity of 35 liters, measures 86 × 57 × 46 cm, and weighs 14.5 kg. It operates in a temperature range from +20 °C to −20 °C and reaches −20 °C in about 30 minutes, making it ideal for long trips, weekend getaways, and trips back from the grocery store.
Controls and Refrigerant
Adjustments can be made down to the degree using the built-in buttons and touchscreen or the Bluetooth app on a smartphone. Max mode prioritizes cooling speed, while Eco mode prioritizes energy efficiency. The system uses R1234yf refrigerant, chosen for its lower environmental impact.
Installation
Installation is very simple: place the cooler in the compartment under the floor, then plug it into the 12-volt outlet in the trunk. An installation video is available. To ensure proper operation, avoid using it in environments where the temperature exceeds 40 °C, and keep the condensation fan unobstructed.
Error F4: Causes and Solutions
Error code F4 indicates a problem with the compressor. It typically occurs in two situations: either the cooler displays the error immediately every time it is turned back on, or the error recurs frequently after a certain period of operation.
Possible causes include excess refrigerant in the system (excessively high line pressure), excessively high ambient temperature (excessively high compressor operating pressure), or a jammed internal compressor rotor (vibrations, oil leak) preventing startup.
Procedure: First, check that the ambient temperature does not exceed 40 °C and that no air vents around the cooler are blocked. Next, turn off the power, let the unit sit for 30 minutes, then turn it back on; after about 3 minutes, check that the side condenser fan is running properly to dissipate heat.
If the cooler frequently operates at temperatures above 40 °C, it will not be able to resume normal operation until the temperature drops below this threshold. In a temperate environment (40 °C or less), a persistent malfunction is likely due to the condenser fan: check that it is operating correctly, and contact customer service if the problem persists.
