XPENG winter wheels and tyres: fitted sets for the G9, alloy wheels for the G6

Which XPENG winter wheels and tyres for your car?

The G9 has winter wheel and tyre sets in 19, 20 and 21 inches, with 255 mm wide tyres whatever the diameter. The G6 does not yet have a complete set: you start from a set of compatible wheels, on which we fit the winter tyres you choose.

On the G9, XPENG offers the 21-inch as an option on the Standard Range and Long Range versions and fits it as standard on the Performance (XPENG’s French G9 page). According to their product pages, the TÜV-certified wheels in this category suit every version of the 2024+ G9; several are also listed as snow-chain compatible. In winter, a smaller diameter gives a taller tyre sidewall, more forgiving on potholes and snowy kerbs. It also uses less energy: around 5% less per inch of wheel diameter removed, based on GreenDrive’s experience, with no guarantee or XPENG test figure behind it. The cold already weighs heavily: an electric car uses 25 to 31% more energy in everyday winter driving according to the ADAC, mainly due to heating. Also look at the energy class on the tyre’s EU label: from one class to the next, the gap can reach tens of kilometres of range per charge (European Commission).

Winter tyres for UK and Irish drivers, and for ski trips abroad

Neither the UK nor Ireland requires winter tyres: on an XPENG they are recommended, not a legal requirement. The Highway Code’s snow and ice rules (228 to 231) say nothing about winter tyres (GOV.UK); the law sets a 1.6 mm minimum tread depth (Highway Code, Annex 6), as in Ireland (AA Ireland).

For a ski trip, France’s Loi Montagne (mountain law) runs from 1 November to 31 March in signed mountain areas: four winter tyres, or chains or snow socks on board for at least two driven wheels. Since 1 November 2024, a winter tyre must carry the 3PMSF symbol, the three-peak mountain with a snowflake; M+S alone is no longer enough (Préfecture de la Savoie). Germany requires alpine-symbol tyres in ice, snow, slush or frost (§ 2 StVO, § 36 StVZO). Austria requires winter equipment in wintry conditions from 1 November to 15 April, with at least 4 mm of tread (Austrian transport ministry). Italy lets road operators require winter tyres or chains on board from 15 November to 15 April (Italian transport ministry).

The winter tyres in our G9 sets carry the 3PMSF symbol. For a G6 wheel, check that marking when you choose the tyre on the product page.

What the G9 winter wheel sets include

• 4 alloy wheels and 4 winter tyres, fitted and balanced in the workshop, ready to bolt on;
• 4 XPENG G9-compatible tyre pressure sensors (TPMS), installed in the wheels; the car recognises them following the procedure in the G9 owner’s manual;
• the winter tyre you choose on the product page, from several brands depending on size and availability;
• TÜV approval on some wheels, stated in the title and on the product page.

For the G6, the wheel product pages let you add tyres and request fitting at our partner workshop. Some G6 wheels are listed as compatible with the original TPMS sensors; for the others, check the product page. A Swiss type-approval certificate can be requested for some wheels.

Front-fit snow chains for the XPENG G6 and G9

We do not quote any XPENG recommendation on snow chains. The front-fit chains offered for the G6 and the G9 are allocated to each model by the chain maker and meet the EN 16662-1 standard. They attach from the outside of the wheel, with nothing behind it, and tension themselves within the first few metres; according to the product pages, they go on the rear wheels. Find them among our XPENG G9 accessories and XPENG G6 accessories.

XPENG winter wheels: frequently asked questions

Which winter wheel size should I choose for an XPENG G9?

Sets come in 19, 20 and 21 inches. The 19-inch is the most energy-efficient and has the tallest sidewall; the 21-inch keeps the look of a G9 delivered on 21-inch wheels. The TÜV-certified wheels are listed as compatible with every 2024+ version.

Are there winter wheel and tyre sets for the XPENG G6?

Not yet as a ready-made set. Choose XPENG G6 wheels in 18, 19 or 20 inches, add 3PMSF winter tyres on the product page and request fitting: the wheels arrive ready to bolt on.

Are tyre pressure sensors included?

On the G9 winter wheel sets, yes: four G9-compatible sensors are installed in the wheels. For the G6, it depends on the wheel: some product pages state that it accepts the original sensors.

Do I need winter tyres in the UK?

No, neither in the UK nor in Ireland: they are a safety choice. Abroad, France’s Loi Montagne requires 3PMSF tyres or chains on board from 1 November to 31 March in signed areas, and M+S alone is not enough (Préfecture de la Savoie).

Do I need TÜV-approved wheels for winter?

Not necessarily, but TÜV certification confirms the wheel’s conformity for the vehicle. Depending on the product page, the certificate for our certified G9 wheels comes with the delivery or is supplied on request.
